My Daddy always says that “the Black Belt is the center of the universe”.Not sure if that is necessarily true, but one thing is for sure, no matter where we go, there is always a great story or connection made back to home, and the stories are always full of “original characters”.I guess this is why even after living in Huntsville, Alabama for over 20 years, when someone asks me the proverbial southern question, “where ya from?”, I still answer “Greensboro, Alabama.Right on Main Street in the middle of the Black Belt”.This never fails to start the “Do you know….” game and it often ends with a funny story.It’s just one more reason the Black Belt is so special and will always be my Hometown.
